North Chapter Leadership
North Chapter President Rob Knecht is a Reserve US Marine Corps Infantry Officer and veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom - Afghanistan, holding the rank of Major. Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University San Marcos and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of San Diego, and is currently a full-time Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership Studies candidate at the University of San Diego.
Vice President Nichole Gaglio was born in Louisville, Kentucky. After high school she enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves, earning her EGA at Parris Island and completing her radio operator training at 29 Palms. Assignments at Fort Knox and in Lexington, Kentucky followed. Following the birth of her first child, Nichole transferred to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 48 in Great Lakes and deployed with them to Djibouti. After her enlistment she and her husband, an active duty Marine, moved to Oceanside, where Nichole is currently attending school at Mira Costa Community College and majoring in Political Science. She plans to attend law school after earning her Bachelor’s degree.
North Chapter Secretary Jim Cassidy is a retired US Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman. After retiring, Jim settled in the San Diego area and has been here for eighteen years. He currently holds the position of Director of Programs with Being Alive San Diego, a local nonprofit that works with individuals with HIV/AIDS. He serves nationally on the Board of The Modern Military Association of America (MMAA) the nation’s largest organization of LGBTQ service members, military spouses, veterans, their families and allies. He also serves on local committees within the County of San Diego and City of San Diego.
